So. last Wednesday morning (the day after my friend R made my hand feel better) I woke up with what felt like instant arthritis in my joints --wrists, elbows, ankles, the base of my fingers. It hurt to make a fist, it hurt to hold my arms at right angles. Instead of freaking out in my air conditioned room I decided to go to the studio. And as I moved around my joints began to feel better, not great but better. While at the studio my arms started to hurt in the usual way - hot pins-and-needles - so I decided to go for a walk to Home Depot/Assembly Sq. I had something to return at TJMaxx so I went there first. I ended up spending two hours in TJMAXX in some sort of daze because I wanted to find the perfect shirt for something and because they have the nicest AC I've ever encountered. It was not too hot, not too cool. I did eventually need to eat, and then I went and got buckets at home depot to soak my arms in. I made an appointment with my doctor for Friday and an appointment with my mom's chiropractor for next Tuesday because he takes my insurance so why not.
The next day I woke up and my joints hurt again, but not quite as bad as the day before. I did the things I needed to do and I felt better as the day went on. The next morning I woke up at 3:45 in a lot of pain. Ms. Corrupt was not entirely asleep and because she is a wonderful human being she went on a walk with me. We walked to the Dunky's in Magoun Sq, had horrible breakfast, walked all around that area and came home. And then we went to Revere Beach which I had never been to. It was awesome. When we got back I had stiffened up from being in the car but I was still feeling better because of the moving around and being distracted from freaking out.
I went to my doctor, who I love. She doesn't know what it is, but she had me go down to the awesome phlebotomist who took six vials of blood. The tests all came back negative. Well, I'm a little low in vitamin D so I'll get that take care of. The pain gradually faded over the weekend. I'm fine now, except for my usual pain, which I can deal with because I am used to it. Having new unexplained pain is really not good but at least it went away when I moved around.
So...does anyone have any ideas why this happened to me? I can't be the only one who gets freaking instant arthritis that goes away. I don't know what cause it so I don't know what I can do to make sure it never happens again.
