Oh, you guys. I am stuck at reception today because LH is out sick. By the end of the day everything will hurt from sitting still too much and my Fitbit will be tragically disappointed in me.

Yesterday [livejournal.com profile] corruptviridian unpacked a mini disco ball from a box of wonderful things her parents sent her. I named it Maureen Johnson & we hung it in our studio window. I know that makes me sound like a giant weirdo (and here is where certain people would say that I am really a small-to-medium-sized weirdo) but I think Maureen Johnson would be honored.

We are still making our slow way through season 1 of Fringe. I am so much more fond of the episodes with creepy psychological mind games & super powers than the ones with monsters. I am such a wimp about fake monsters, you guys. I am still really enjoying the show, despite the monsters.

I will probably spam lj/dw all day long. This is what happens when I'm stuck at reception. Sorry?
I have a question for you, Oh Great and Knowledgeable Internet:

My company has a rather large pile of unused HP toner cartridges that are no longer of use to it. They are unused! In their boxes! HP will not take them back. Do you know where I can donate them? It should be somewhere local to Cambridge, MA. I poked around on the internet a little bit yesterday and was not impressed with the information I was able to find. I need this info ASAP, because TH wants them out of his mail room by the end of the week.

(huh. lj was working fine for me last night. now it is all *poof* not there. le sigh. last night i was sitting in my living room wearing slouchy comfy pants and a tank top and i was not dripping with sweat because it was cool out. so nice.

ran into a friend after work who i had not seen in a while. she was having a minor art-related crisis so i helped her find the proper sketch paper and pencils etc. we did a bit of catching up, it was fun.)

You guys! The guy who works for our main caterer and delivers the food is a really nice older guy, very friendly, good with people etc. We all like him. So I told him yesterday morning about my cab woes the other day and this morning!

Bob: "I know you were very stressed out about the cab being so late and it really ruined you day--"

farwing: *where the hell is he going with this?*

Bob: "--so I got you a gift."

And then he handed me a little yellow Hot Wheels taxi cab!

Bob: "So now you never have to wait for a cab again!

Ahahahaha! I shall carry it with me always! Best joke gift ever?

Also, yesterday I got the Fluevog boots I ordered and they fit me and are comfortable and they are like my first Fluevog boots except black & grey and calf-high instead of brown and ankle-high. They are so amazing. I need more skirts that fit me so I can show them off.

(Also last night Ms. Corrupt and I went out for ice cream and got sushi instead. Yum.)

Happy Friday everyone!

Crocuses! Yay! *ahem* Eh, whatever.

In other news, the delivery guy for one of our caterers frelling hid the food this morning. Like, he put his cart outside the farthest kitchen from the service elevator and then couldn't really remember where he'd parked it. Why would you do that? I mean, yeah, he'd never been here before but why didn't he just leave it by the elevator and come find us?

It's always something at this place. Ugh.

In other other news, at least I got some sleep last night? Yay. Also, we made tea eggs, only they might be really horrifying because someone added a lot of cinnamon. Or they might be more awesome. We shall see.

Things I forgot today:

1) My belt. Lucky I have a spare in my desk. All my corduroys are kind of too big for me & I need to have my belt pouch on an actual belt.

2) My quiche that I was going to have for dinner because I am going to a movie thingy after work so I should eat first.

Also, I am really, really tired. And I didn't get as much done last night as I meant to, & I could only find one yaktrack & I thought wearing just one would be a little odd, but I did do a load of laundry, so yay clean clothes!

Also also, apparently Sarah Shahi has a new show out this week called Fairly Legal and wow will I be watching that. Nothing will ever be as good as Life, but she is so so awesome. Maybe her new show will be decent?

Almond milk is pretty excellent in coffee. Especially as I am trying to avoid milk on a account of a tiny head cold. I'm gonna see if I can maybe make it a bonsai type head cold. Very small, in a pretty ceramic pot with small pebbles, maybe some moss...

Perhaps I am a bit odd today. More odd than usual even.

It snowed yesterday! I wrote a poem thing on Twitter:

Walking along the bike path last night
a man smoked a clove cigarette as the snow fell.
It was wonderful. True winter has arrived in white.

Needs work, yeah?

Stuck at the reception desk until The Horrible D gets here. Snow makes everyone late but me. I am really fond of snow. It crunches under foot and softens the edges of things and it's just lovely and cold and...*does the chair dance of enthusiasm*

The Charles is patchy white and grey-- white where there is enough ice for the snow to cling to, grey where it hasn't frozen over yet.

Yesterday at work my coworker PJ was carrying a bagel on a plate and had a plastic knife in his mouth:

me: "That's not a good thing to carry in your mouth."
PJ: "Well, I couldn't find my ice pick."

You guys. I sat bolt upright at 6am, and shouted "Fuck!" as I somehow remembered in my sleep that I had forgotten to call my company's milk distributor to change the milk order because of Thanksgiving. Thank goodness the place is open on Saturdays. Ugh. I'm really glad I remembered in time to fix things but wow do I hate my job sometimes.

In other news, I have a headache. I probably just need food. I think I'll go make myself some eggs.

I just hit my head on the counter in the large 7th floor kitchen. Crying in pain while laughing at my own klutziness = my life. It's actually been a while since I last accidentally tried to knock myself unconscious. Goose eggs: still kind of painful.

But other than that it's been a pretty good day.

How's things?

I have a staff meeting tonight. Which I had totally forgotten about until halfway through the day. But at least there will be free yummy pizza for dinner. Also apparently chicken wings and salad. So...I will try not to fall asleep and drown in my pizza/chicken wings/salad.

(See...there was apparently this tv show where someone drowned in their soup? Which I only know of because my dad told me about it once. Thus, the reference to drowning in food.)

Thank God its Friday. I was kind of ready to go home and take a nap by 11am so...yargh. But tonight I have yummy dinner with my fambly and I am actually enjoying my crazy job, even though it is crazy, so that's good. And last night I did do some fabric painting and I am pleased with the results. And there will be cake this afternoon and...it's all okay.

*hugs everyone just because*

Those little "no box cutter" signs that the coffee pod company prints on the outside of the coffee box cases amuse me every time I see them. Because I totally use my useful little key chain knife to open the boxes. I'm such a rebel, you guys.

I feel like I smoked an entire carton of dust ball cigarettes yesterday. Perhaps I should clean my room more often? (My mom is a room-cleaning superhero and I could not have done it without her help.)

Have I mentioned that I have been listening to Yoav's album "Charmed and Strange" a lot? Because I have been. It is kind of amazing and happy-making and I'm worried that if I keep listening to it over and over again I will end up hating it but...so awesome. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] jencallisto for the rec.

Also I have painted my nails a pleasing shade of peacock blue.

I know there was more I was going to say but...*shrug*
...but it might help. Ugh. This whole leaving the house at 7:00 is something I will have to adjust to. And I'm kind of a morning person. And leaving at 4:30 is just weird, so far. Mostly because I have to give D a break at 4 and by the time she gets back from that I have 15 minutes to be productive. Ha.

But the moon has been out in the mornings on my walk to work so that's pretty cool.

Also: the new 7 Worlds Collide: The Sun Came Out double album is pretty nifty.

I should go hide in the storage room go do more work-like things now. ttfn!

ps I had a very nice birthday weekend.

I got some really pretty organic kale at the farmer's market behind my work. So...I just need to go get beans and parmesan and then I will take it all home and cook it put it over the quinoa I have (truthfully, I probably have beans and parmesan at home as well but I am unsure of this so...)

I had forgotten that when I come up with a Food Plan cooking is not actually all that hard. But I am usually really bad at Food Plans. Probably it just takes practice.

The Helpful Intern did a pretty darn good job of keeping up with the kitchens over the last few days so I have had a pretty easy day. Of course, I have a rather long list of office supply requests which people seem to have saved up. *shrug*

So...I'm really tired. But I did get sleep last night so I will just blame the cloudy gloom. I have to say, the view from the 7th floor reception area is pretty no matter what the weather is. Boston, you are quite lovely to look at.

The milk order is two hours late, but they did say that it was actually going to arrive so...at least will have milk at some point. (I was pretty sure that they had cancelled the entire order instead of just the half & half portion of it, but apparently not. I'd even written a rant and everything. Le sigh.)

Things I need to get after work:

moth traps that actually work

There was a third thing on this list last night but I have no idea what it was-- please provide useful/ridiculous/surreal suggestions.

It is, as my first boss Nita would have said, dead as a door nail around here. Of course, she was saying that of a small used book store and I am saying it of a large-ish software company. Damn, now I miss Nita. Fucking cancer.

Yeah...now that I've managed to make myself sad...I've had a pretty silly-stupid Monday. Whatever. I'm going to go...sort things in the stock room. Then I'm going to leave work and go get non-workable fixative for my ridiculous lipstick-on-canvas masterpiece. (Working with a rather limited palette is amusing. I dunno...there was a time when I kept getting brown-ish lipstick over and over again even though brown lipstick doesn't really look good on me. And now it's paint!)

1.) It amuses me that when people meet me in real life and then read my livejournal or read my journal and then meet me they tend to say things like: "You are exactly the same as your journal!"

Which I choose to take as a compliment. Also, it's further proof that I don't actually have much in the way of filters.

(I think it's just that I tend to feel that lj is sort of like talking to a whole bunch of people all at once so my writing style is me just talking through the keyboard. Um.)

2) I went to see Star Trek with [profile] mobledqueen last night and it was awesome because about halfway through she just started laughing at everything and so even though I am the kind of wimp who still gets scared during the chase scene in a movie she has seen multiple times I was unable to be scared. Because I was laughing at mobledqueen laughing. We probably made everyone else in the theatre hate us.

3) It was way too hot to be going on long walks for lunch but I did so anyway. KB (awesome intern from 5th floor) and I hiked over to Whole Foods and hiked back, bitching about the sunshine all the while. But! I did have a really yummy brown rice salmon avocado roll for lunch so it was worth it.

4) *tumbleweeds* So incredibly deserted here. I think I'll go be the Office Supply Faerie now. *sprinkles paper clips and thumb tacks*
