Yesterday I went to the studio, opened the window, and failed to find out how to turn on the ceiling fan. I fiddled around with watercolor pencils and then I painted with this strange little set of watercolors that all look like makeup- soft pinks and browns and golds in small, round, clear plastic containers with small, round, black plastic lids. I liked that- I find it really entertaining to be restricted to limited palette and try to balance everything out.

But some clever folks down the road were installing blacktop all over someone's driveway and let me tell you: the fumes from that stuff made me so fucking ill oh my god. Really bad headache, kind of wanted to die. And the funny thing is, when we got this studio it was all well, how is the ventilation, we don't want to poison ourselves with fun art chemicals-- but the really nasty stuff we can't escape. Ugh.

I went to bed really early (well, not as really as I should have) and I feel much better. Also: tea and two small zucchini-orange-hazelnut loaves make an excellent breakfast.

I was planning to go to the studio today as well but I think I won't. I feel a bit lazy but lazy is okay. Bah. Tonight I am going to a Red Sox game with my dad--I have not been to a game in a while. I understand we suck this year? Eh, it will still be fun. I mean, Fenway is kind of fun all by itself. (Yeah, crowds should be horrid but I will cope.)

Happy Labor Day! Thank you, unions. I am lucky to have a job that actually pays a living wage, weekends, vacation days, sick days-- I really am quite spoiled. It is quite frustrating how some of my friends get paid more than minimum wage and still struggle to make rent.
